Remember The Titans Directed By Boaz Yakin - 2818 Words
The movie Remember the Titans directed by Boaz Yakin is based on the racial and social tensions of the South. Alexandria, Virginia. This community was torn apart by racial conflicts, when it was ordered to combine their public schools. Cautiously, the school board replaces the popular white coach, Bill Yoast (Will Patton), with Herman Boone (Denzel Washington), a creditable black coach, as head coach of the T.C Williams Titans Football team. Boone, after the coaching switch up, invites Yoast to come back and join the team while being the new coach of the defensive line. Yoast accepts and together they inspire, not just a team, but the whole town to stop and ââ¬Å"trust the soul of a man rather than the look of himâ⬠. Answer: Introduction Event management is predominantly about creating an experience and bearing in mind that first impression is the last one, it is necessary when embarking on any event irrespective of its scale t take the appropriate approach and implement the right technique to assure that event gains the success (Jones 2014). The major purpose of the report is to gain the understanding regarding the strategies and approaches that should be applied to conduct a successful event management. The current report starts with providing a brief of the industry. Based on the evaluation and industry revenue an appropriate recommendation has been provided. Background to the industry It is identified that event management industry in UK has developed at a steady rate over the past few years gaining benefits from increasing downstream demand from different range if business and industries. The event industry in Australia has gained the revenue around $3bn with the annual growth rate of 1.3% (Rojek 2014). The industry has gained stability with the increasing employment (20,280) (Getz and Page 2016). The clients in UK event management involve in the industry associations hosting conference for organizations, government departments and the household buying tickets for music concerts and other sporting events. Thus, each of the market needs promotions as well as management services offered by the industry. In addition, with the increasing demand industry services, the revenue is predicted to be increasing at compound annual rate of the 1.5% over the coming years through 2016-2017 (Quinn 2013). Application of the theory to the case study, Buxton Graduation Ceremony Considering the brief history of the event- It is very clear that Derbys economy has gained largely from the professional management of its event environment. It is also observed that public and private sector organizations are working collaboratively for the profits of all stakeholders. The city Derby is one of the great examples of the entire world where the developed practices for the attraction as well as hosting of events have established with all profit coming with it. The current economic climate particularly indicates that financial budget for the events is constrained and the customers are decreasing the funding to events as well as asking for more securities for the events with regard to the outcome of the organizations. Four Pillar Approach- For the purpose of the current report considering the case scenario related to Buxton Graduation, the five different management processes, design, plan and evaluation are done to implement four-pillar approach. Time-As put forward by Di Giorgio and Pimpinella (2012), time is the most significant issue while organizing an event as without an appropriate timing, events may not run as effective as most of the do. When it comes to organize a graduation ceremony at the university many professors and other important authorities are supposed to attend the event. Hence, the event manager needs to constrain the time wasting activities and get the possible issues solved on time. For example, the event manager who is looking after the entire operation of the graduation ceremony should learn catering numbers, attendance numbers, dome, food menu items, preparation of the podium ladies and other relevant activities. Hence, the manager plays the role of controlling the waste activities such as preparing the awards in the back stage, unnecessary time for serving the soft drinks to the guests. Finance-The finance is the issue that should be highly considered. The finance includes the overall cost of the event including the sponsorship and marketing as well as the promotion. Here, the event manager needs to identify the effective practices for the financial success of the University of Derby. Hence, the event manager needs to consider overall budgets of the event involving the cost of food charged by the restaurants, equipments such as chair, lights, music systems, cost of human resources, cost of photographers and other relevant attributes. Technology- Without the installation of technology, the attractiveness of the event seems to be dull. Hence, the technology could be used within the event organization to accelerate process as well as efficiently entre the data such as financial spreadsheets, visitor information and financial budgets can be calculated by technology. Human Resource- Human resource is the fundamental of the event since without the appearance of crowd in the event no individual would come (Friedman and Scholnick 2014). While organizing the Graduation Ceremony of Derby University, individuals worked under different authorities such as catering staff, stage operation staff, and decorating staff, crew members, volunteers, and other front and back office staff. Discussing the event concept and the target market, event scale and structure Target market- The target market for the event management agency or the organizations are usually the wedding coordinators, Sports Personnel, sports events, University event. The significance of the events can be further evaluated with the following model. Why- The event needs to be conducted to felicitate the students for their achievement of the degree. The students expect their last day at the university should be memorable; therefore, the event needs to be conducted. Who-Hence, the stakeholders such as sponsors who are involved in arranging the event could be benefitted. When- The event will be held on Saturday 12th November, 2016 and it is no changeable. Where- The event would be held at the University of Derby as the place is accessible. The other students and members could take part in the event. What- Financial, physical and technological resource would be required to perform the event successfully. PESTLE analysis Political- Hence, the event organizer needs to think of the government policies and regulations. For example, for the case of Graduation Ceremony at the University of Derby, the event planner needs to think of the time and environment. As per the government policies, university event should not be conducted throughout the night. In addition, while performing the event at the university, as per the instruction of the government, nation culture should not be underestimated in the event. The students from different country come for studies; thus, their culture should be valued. Economic- As the economy in UK is stable and developed ,the event would not be affected by the economical scenario of the country. The implementation of the event would not provide direct employment as it is a graduation ceremony at the university. However, the indirect effect would be on the sponsors. Social- As the students from each country study at Derby University, the event is developed based on the cosmopolitan culture. Hence, the human ethics should be valued and respected. Technology- The use of technology in the event facilitates the communication and reduces the time. Moreover, the all information regarding the event should be recorded. Conclusion: On the completion of the report, it can be mentioned that in order to make the event more successful, the event planner or the developers should consider the challenges that could affect the execution of the event such as supplier selection, possible risk, time communication and operational issues, focus on the target group and innovation and creativity. After identifying these challenges, the event manager develops the solution and possible actions. Reference list: Di Giorgio, A. and Pimpinella, L., 2012.
